Portland ATC Visits Willamette Aviation for Second Saturday!

At this month's Second Saturday Seminar, we are pleased to welcome PDX Tower supervisor Ben Wood, who will offer an overview of Portland Tower and TRACON operations. Expect a thorough overview of Class C airspace, as well as a look at how to take advantage of controlled airspace and improve your pilot proficiency. Bring plenty of questions!

This month's Second Saturday gets underway on Oct. 12 at 1100 in the Education Hangar at Willamette Aviation. The event is certified for FAA Wings credit and there is no charge. After the event, everyone is welcome to stick around for this month's Apple Pie Social. We'll be serving hot apple pie and other treats. We'll see you there!

Short Finals…

· We are delighted to welcome Adlai Glass to our team of flight instructors at Willamette Aviation! As a kid, Adlai read books about airplanes, played flight simulator games, and took any opportunity to hang around airports. His first time in a small airplane was a Young Eagles flight in middle school, and he was instantly hooked on flying. Now, as a professional pilot and flight instructor, that passion hasn't gone anywhere. "One of the best parts about flying," he says, "is getting to share it with others and showcase from above what a beautiful state we live in." At Willamette Aviation, Adlai teaches at all levels, with a special focus on instrument and tailwheel training. When he's not flying, you might find him on a bike trail, exploring far-off places, cooking a new recipe, or relaxing around the firepit with friends.

· The Oregon Pilots Association is hosting their 2024 Annual Conference this month at the Aurora State Airport. Experienced pilots and newcomers alike will find the event perfect for networking and learning, with a day full of aviation topics. There will be six presentations, as well as an AOPA "Rusty Pilot" Seminar (separate registration required). Also on the agenda are lunch and a social time with drinks and catered hors d'oeuvres. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with fellow pilots and hear about what is happening in Oregon's vibrant aviation community.
